What is Mexico's 2026 mobile line registry?

Rules approved on 8 December 2025 require every mobile line used in Mexico, physical SIM or eSIM, to be linked to a CURP or, for foreigners, a passport or temporary CURP, with up to ten lines per CURP. Registration opened on 9 January 2026. The single 30 June deadline was replaced by a schedule by the last digit of the line, from 15 August (digit 0) to 31 December 2026 (digit 9). Suspensions began on 16 August 2026: a suspended line keeps its number but can only call emergency and public-service lines.

This registry can change which Mexican numbers are available to rent during 2026. The checkout shows the stock at the time you rent.

What does a Mexican number look like?

Every Mexican number has ten digits, mobile or not, for example +52 55 1234 5678 for Mexico City. Since 3 August 2019 the 044 and 045 mobile prefixes and the extra 1 after +52 are gone, so older instructions that tell you to dial +52 1 are out of date.

Who rents a Mexican number?

People spending a few months in Mexico who need texts from local delivery, banking-adjacent and rental apps, Mexicans abroad, and businesses checking their SMS on Mexican networks, where Telcel alone carries close to six lines in ten. The regulator also changed in 2025: the CRT replaced the IFT in October.

Questions about Mexican numbers

Do I need a CURP to rent a Mexican number from you?

Should I dial +52 1 for a mobile?

Can the registry affect my rental?

It may affect which numbers are available. If a rental cannot be delivered or stops working because of it, support handles it under the refund policy.
