Which alternative fits which need?
- One code, never again: a short-lived number from a service that still operates, such as HeroSMS, 5SIM or PVADeals.
- A US number for one known app, on a SIM: TextVerified, from $5 a month per service.
- A very long single period on one UK number: SMSPool, 360 days for $55.

What changed in 2026?
Two well-known services closed within a few months: SMS-Activate, whose notice set 5 February for withdrawals and 30 April for urgent contact, and DaisySMS, which shut down on 26 March 2026 after a 30-day notice. SMSPool is reported to be removing direct Monero payments, and SMSPVA's May 2026 policy added an ID and liveness check for card payments. Users of the closed services lost access to the numbers on their accounts.
