No-KYC phone number rental: what we ask for and what we do not

Last updated

Quick answer

Do I need to verify my identity to rent a number?

No. KeepANumber asks for no ID document, no selfie and no proof of address. To rent a number you need an email address, a password and a crypto payment from $10 (October 2026). No KYC is not a promise of secrecy: we keep account and payment records and apply our acceptable use policy.

What do we ask for, and what not?

We ask forWe do not ask for
An email address and a passwordAn ID card, passport or driving licence
A crypto payment for your top-upA selfie or video check
Your choice of country and periodA proof of address or a phone number of your own

What do we keep?

How long each item is kept is set out in the privacy policy.

Why do we not ask for an ID?

Because renting the use of a number for a few weeks does not need it, and because every document we do not collect is one that cannot leak. People who prefer not to upload identity documents for a second number are the people this service is for.

This is different from buying a SIM card. In many countries the law requires an ID check for every prepaid SIM: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia among them. Each country page gives the rule and its source.

What rules still apply?

The acceptable use policy applies to every account. A rental used for fraud, for someone else's identity or to harass people is closed. We answer valid legal requests under the law that applies to us, with the records listed above.

Questions about no-KYC

Can my identity be checked later?

We do not ask for identity documents for normal use of the service. If a law that applies to us changes, we will update this page before applying it.

Do I have to give a real email address?

You need an address you can read: it is your login and the way to recover your account.

Is a no-KYC number suitable for my bank?

Usually not. Banks and government services often require a number registered in your name in their country.
