**Quick answer: What can a rented KeepANumber number be used for?**

For your own lawful use: keeping your personal number private, receiving texts while abroad, testing your own product, separating work and personal life. Fraud, impersonation, harassment and breaking other services' rules are not allowed, and rentals used that way are closed without credit. Policy dated 18 October 2026.

## Allowed uses

- Receiving texts for your own accounts and contacts.
- Keeping your personal number out of listings, shops and sign-up forms.
- Receiving texts from a country where you do not live.
- Testing SMS sent by your own product or your employer's.

## Prohibited uses

- Fraud, scams and phishing, or receiving codes meant for someone else.
- Opening accounts in another person's name, or impersonating a person or a company.
- Opening more accounts than a service allows, or getting back into a service that closed your account.
- Harassment, threats, or any use that targets a person.
- Anything illegal where you are or where the service you use operates.

## What happens if the policy is broken?

We close the rental, and the account in serious or repeated cases, without credit. We answer valid legal requests under the law that applies to us, with the records described in the [privacy policy](https://keepanumber.com/privacy).

## How do I report abuse?

Write to [abuse@keepanumber.com](mailto:abuse@keepanumber.com) with the number concerned, the date and time, and what happened. We review every report.
