We built it around one idea: a number you give to a service should still be yours when that service texts you again. So we rent numbers by the week, the month or the quarter, not by the minute.

## What we do not do

- We do not make calls or send SMS: numbers receive texts.
- We do not promise that a service will accept a virtual number.
- We do not ask for ID documents or selfies, and we do not promise secrecy either: we keep the records described in the [privacy policy](https://keepanumber.com/privacy).

## How we write this site

Every country page gives the calling code, the number format, the regulator and the prepaid SIM rule, with a source we read. Comparisons name the services compared, the date we read their pages and the link. Our own figures are dated. When something changes, we change the page and its date.
